Testing some ambient occlusion settings in Maya…

AO softens edges in renders of 3D environments. The barrels scene turned out better than the crate. Possibly because the curvature of the barrels is more conducive to occlusion effect than the hard edges of the crate. The 90° edges of both tend to cast sharper shadows than the more obtuse angles of the barrel sides.
